Ferrari of Seattle FC is a local soccer team sponsored by Ferrari-Maserati of Seattle comprised primarily of Italians and plays in the Greater Seattle Soccer League. We are currently looking for players to round out our roster for the winter season, which begins in January. If you are a player of a decent skill level and can make a commitment to playing for our team, we'd love to have you come to a practice for a tryout. We are looking for players in all positions, but are especially interested in acquiring a goalkeeper and defenders.
Joining Ferrari of Seattle FC involves an $80 team registration fee and a GSSL player card, which costs $25 for one year. If you're interested, please contact Ben Hopper by email at hoppercool@hotmail.com or by phone at 425.753.3175.

I got this from the Ufficio Scolastico in San Francisco:

The Advanced Placement-Italian is an exam which students can take in the 11th and 12th grade. The AP exams allow students to earn additional credits from the College of their choice.
The AP tests, as SAT, are prepared by a Non Profit Foundation, the College Board, founded in 1900, which is financed primarly by test fees.

Why is AP-Italian important?

Until 2005, it was possible to take the AP exams only in three languages: French, German and Spanish. Since then, thanks to a grant form the Italian Government and the financial support of many Italian American organizations, the Italian Ap-exam was added.
It was a great victory and a recogniton of the increasing interest for our language in American High Schools. The opportunity to take the AP-Italian exam is a strong incentive to study our language in the High Schools and to continue the studies at College level.

The problem

In 2008, 2.000 students took the Ap-Italian exam in more then 300 High Schools, with a 23% increase compared to 2006/2006.
Notwithstanding the excellent results and the upward trend, the operating costs of the exam are too high and the College Board had decided not to offer the exam, after the 2008/2009 school year, unless 1.5 million of dollars is collected by October 15th 2008 and further 2.5 million in the following months.
We need your help to save the AP-italian exam. Your donation will help to reduce the current debt and to convert to a new, less costly, computerized exam.

How can I help the Ap-Italian exam?

Thanks to the commitment of Matilde Cuomo, daughter of the former New York State Governor and of some Italian American foundations ((National Italian American Foundation, Columbus Citizen Foundation, UNICO National), a non profit Foundation 501(c) (3) has been set up to support the Italian Language in the USA and the AP-Italian exam.

You can send your donation on –line through the website of the “Italian Language Foundation” at: www.italianlanguagefoundation.org/donate.html

or a check to:

Italian Language Foundation
8 East 69 St.
New York, NY 10021

Please make checks payable to “Italian Language Foundation”

Each donation is very important.
We ask you to participate even with a very small amount.
The Foundation has the full support of the Italian Embassy and of the Italian Consulates in the USA.
Where can I find further information?
